Walla Walla, a city in the state of Washington, U.S.A., near the mouth of the Walla Walla river, is named for the native American tribe, Walawalaláma (Walla Walla people).

As the original settlement was situated at the junction of the Columbia and Snake rivers, 'Walla Walla' is Nez Perce for 'Place of Many Waters'.

July 2011, Walla Walla was selected by USA Today as the friendliest small city in the U.S.
Altho' wheat is a large crop, the region is known for its vineyards and wine production.

After 1/2 a glass of red wine from Walla Walla, Martin was 'inspired' to write the song, 'Walla Walla'.
